Special session to take up 50 per cent reservation for women
The Kerala government on Wednesday decided to convene a special session of the Assembly from September 8 exclusively for law making.
The cabinet meeting had decided to recommend the Governor to convene the special session from September 8 to 16, Chief Minister V S Achuthandan said.
Among the bills, legislation for providing 50 percent of reservation for women in the Local Bodies would be given top priority.
The other decisions taken in the cabinet are
1. A bus terminal in Vytila in 25 acres of land to address he heavy traffic in Kochi
2. A Marine Biological Research Institute and Oceanarius in private participation at Puthuvypin, Kochi.
3. A special company for the functioning of Aralam farm.
4. Provide 12 Kilogram of rice for free to ST families during Onam. Five Kg of rice for school students.
5. Employees of closed down factories to be provided Rs 1250 during Onam. The Port employees in Alappuzha to get Rs 3000 and fee ration.
