Bavaria women; FIFA files criminal charges
Johannesburg: FIFA has filed criminal charges against Bavaria accusing the Dutch beer brand of conducting ambush marketing activities during the World Cup.
Two women from Dutch were also detained and face charges
The Organisers ousted 36 women supporters from the Netherland-Denmark tie in Johannesburg as they were wearing orange mini-dresses that were part of a Bavaria promotional campaign.
FIFA spokesperson Delia Fischer waas quoted as saying that the Dutch company had a long history of trying ambush marketing tactics at sports events. He said the latest instance was the Dutch national team itself.
Police claimed that the two women, who were detained, were promoting the beer brand in breach of FIFA guidelines. They were later released on bail after paying 10,000 rand and surrendering their passports.
